No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

In the mood for something sweet? Here’s a simple and very classic recipe for No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars that will hit the sweet spot, EVERY TIME!

Why?

If I had to guess it’s because of the natural ingredients (of some of my absolute favorites) that come together for the perfect combo! Yes, its chocolate and peanut butter! Is there really a better dup than this?

I think not.

But this recipe is more than just that. There are a few additions that really take this dessert to the next level. Let me tell you about it.

Oat Flour: Yes, oat flour is used to make this more filling and create that peanut butter fudge-y taste that makes my taste buds swoon. Sounds like something complicated that you need to buy from an expensive grocery store but don’t worry my friends. Oat flour can be made from home at a fraction of the price with regular oatmeal. To make oat flour you will need a blender or food processor. Mix oatmeal in a blender or food processor until it reaches a flour type consistency (up to 2 minutes usually) and you’ll have oat flour.

Vanilla Extract: A hint of vanilla extract goes a long way. Adding vanilla extract to the peanut butter adds more delicious flavor.

Maple Syrup: Another great addition to make these No Bake Peanut Butte Chocolate Bars complete is maple syrup. A natural sweetener is always a good idea. Other alternatives include honey, agave nectar, or coconut sugar.

Sea Salt Flakes: An optional but awesome addition to these bars are sea salt flakes. After the bars have set in the fridge sprinkle on top sea salt flakes. It adds a contrasting sweet and salty flavor that like the cherry on top.

What You’ll Need:

Large Bowl

Small Saucepan

8×8 Baking Pan

Parchment Paper

Large Knife

Tips for the best bars

To melt or not to melt? This recipe calls for the chocolate chips to be melted. It’s necessary in order to spread the chocolate layer on top. But you can also melt the peanut butter as well when making the bottom layer. Melting the peanut butter will make it much easier to mix all the ingredients as well as spread in the baking pan.

Parchment paper is a must. To easily remove the bars from the baking sheet add parchment paper to the baking pan. Make sure to leave enough parchment paper to be able to easily grab with your hands to remove. You can also use an additional piece of parchment paper to help spread the peanut butter in the pan.

If you can’t wait long for these no bake bars to set you can place them in the freezer instead of the fridge. They should should be ready after 30 or so minutes. Allow the bars to rest for a few minutes to cut them easily into bars.

Store leftover bars in an airtight container for up to a week. To last longer, freeze for up to 3 months.

How To Make No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

In a large bowl add creamy peanut butter (heat peanut butter in small saucepan is optional), oat flour, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly to evenly combine. Line a 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Next, transfer peanut butter mix to baking pan. Use an additional sheet of parchment paper to press peanut butter down and spread in an even flat layer.

Add chocolate chips to small saucepan. Melt chocolate chips in the small saucepan over low/medium heat by slowly stirring. Add peanut butter to chocolate chips and stir to evenly combine. Remove from heat. Pour the melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter. Spread chocolate in one even layer using a spoon/flat sided utensil or tilt pan with hands to move chocolate around.

Transfer pan to the fridge and let set for 1.5 hours. Remove from fridge. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Use a knife to cut bars into squares.
