This recipe for Cashew Alfredo Sauce is the easiest creamy sauce using very easy and simple ingredients. It’s light, full of flavor, and a great addition to make with many meals (not mention it’s also vegan!)
The Best Cashew Alfredo Sauce:
Alfredo is more than just a sauce, it’s definitely considered comfort food. I was craving a delicious Alfredo pasta but noticed I didn’t have any. On a mission to make my own I looked through my fridge for the usual ingredients to make Alfredo from scratch. I’ve done this count less times before. With a quick glance I check off the ingredients list in my head… flour, butter, garlic, cheese, milk. I had everything but heavy cream.
It was too late to go the store so I went back to the drawing board. To my surprise I remembered the ridiculous amount of cashews that were sitting in my pantry. Now was my chance to finally make cashew alfredo sauce.
I must say I was very excited to make this and once I figured out the right measurements of all of the ingredients it did not disappoint. It’s as close to the real thing without it actually being the real thing.
What You’ll Need:
Cashews: The main ingredient and what makes this delicious sauce even possible! I am not vegan but it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy good vegan foods. Cashews is a wonderful alternative to make sauces with dairy completely vegan (like this Alfredo sauce of course but you can also make a similar vegan cheese sauce!
Water: You’ll need just enough water to help thin out the sauce. For a thinner sauce feel free to use more water to thin out.
Garlic: You can never have too much garlic! Add garlic to give this cashew alfredo sauce that extra boost of flavor.
Nutrition Yeast: The real star that gives this vegan cashew Alfredo sauce that real taste is definitely nutrition yeast.
Sea Salt/Pepper: To help season and bring everything together!
Other item’s you’ll need!
Jar: A good jar goes a long way. I used these handy glass jars whenever I am cooking and storing foods. Use a medium to large sized jar to transfer your cashews to soak. Fill with water and let them soak until soft.
Blender: What make this sauce possible is a powerful blender. Because cashews are soaked they will be much softer and take no time at all to whip up.
Ways To Enjoy Cashew Alfredo Sauce:
If it isn’t obvious, you can enjoy this sauce with pasta. If you’re looking for an alternative pasta option then veggie noodles like sweet potato noodles are excellent!
How to Store
After making this sauce, store in an airtight container or jar. This cashew Alfredo sauce will keep for 3-5 days in the fridge. To make this sauce last longer you can freeze. Here’s a quick tip. Do you have any additional ice cube trays? Pour this Alfredo sauce into an ice cub tray and place in the freezer! This way, you will have small sized cubes to use later. Once completely frozen remove from tray and transfer to plastic bag or airtight container and place back in the fridge. When you are ready to make pasta with this sauce just remove a handful of cubes from the fridge and add directly to a heated skillet or saucepan to make a quick meal.
