I’m never buying tomato sauce again.
There’s no need to when it’s ridiculously easily to make your own. This Smoked Tomato Sauce is everything and puts a twist on a basic pantry staple to whip up a quick meal.
I’m very much into the faux groove now a days. Apartment living does not grant me the opportunity to grill to achieve that real smoked flavor for cooking but I can pretend. Imitate I say. What brings out the smoked flavor are the herbs and spices. Particularly I focused on using Liquid Smoke and smoked paprika . Both are totally all natural (yes Liquid Smoke is awesome) and can easily have your tastebuds in smokey heaven.
To start pre heat oven to 400 degrees. Spread cherry tomatoes on a flat roasting pan. Sprinkle with olive oil and salt/pepper to taste. Roast for 25 mins or until the tomatoes start to wrinkle. Watch for browning or burning. (Honestly, I don’t mind a little brown).
Once roasted place tomatoes in a blender. Add garlic, more salt/ pepper to taste, and the best partLiquid Smoke and smoked paprika. Blend for about 1 minute or until the mixture is at your desired consistency.
For added measure you can strain the tomato sauce to remove the small seeds. Pour sauce into sealed container and refrigerate for a couple days. To make your sauce last longer freeze it in a freezer bag. This Smoked Roasted is creamy and made with wholesome ingredient. Seriously, this sauce can be for dinner on spaghetti night or on your next home made pizza
.
