Hey there! I feel like I’m finally learning how this thing works. When I say thing I mean this blogging, food photography, social media thing. Recently I upgraded my camera and I’m adjusting to using a full frame DSLR. One of the very first pictures I’ve taken is this lovely Maca Pear Smoothie.
My ideas for recipes are highly influenced by what I have at the moment. Maybe one day it will be a little more thought out. On my latest grocery store run my cart magically ended up with a few extra pears so here we are. As a child I hated pears (because gritty texture automatically means its nasty right?!). I’ve come a long way and embraced a lot of things I thought I didn’t like. Parts of me are very cautious of throwing around the term superfood (it seems like gimmicky marketing term) but Maca powder is seen as such due to amazing benefits. With only 5 ingredients this super smoothie can be whipped up in 5 minutes.
Maca powder alone has a strong smell but it’s practically undetectable one the smoothie is blended. The taste of course hint of grainy from pear but still smooth with the frozen bananas. The banana and almond milk gives just enough sweetness to delight your taste buds. Maca powder, which isof Peruvian origin, is nothing short of energy booster that’s rich in Vitamin B, C, E and minerals.
This is not to be confused with the similarly named (with extra letters ) Matcha powder. Matcha seems to be all the craze in healthy food trends (or has that ended?). Any who, try this MACA pear smoothie and tell me what you think. I say let’s start a Maca powder trend.
- 2 Anjou pears (core removed)
- 2 frozen bananas
- 2 tablespoon Maca Powder
- ½ cup greek yogurt
- 1 cup almond milk
- Combine all the ingredients in blender and mix until smooth.
