Cutting board

Ingredients

Did I mention how easy this recipe is. What’s even better you may have most of the items needed in your pantry, right now. Let’s make rice magical with a few additions.

Jasmine Rice: This long grain rice is a favorite and constant staple in my home pantry. Is it because my name is also Jasmin… maybe. Long grain rice is very versatile, works well as a side dish (also dishes with sauces) and is good for fluffy rice.

Broth: Replace water with broth to cook Jasmine rice. This gives the rice more flavor. Opt for a low sodium broth to cut back on sodium. This recipe calls for 2 parts liquid for 1 part rice.

Herbs: The most exciting part is adding fresh herbs like fresh basil, rosemary, cilantro to add color and enhance taste.

How to Cook Garlic Herb Jasmine Rice

Add butter and garlic to a large pot over medium heat. When butter is melted add rinsed Jasmine rice to the pot. Toast rice in butter and garlic mix for around 30 seconds in butter and garlic mixture. Add chicken stock and bring to a boil. Stir and cover, reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.

Fluff with fork. Add mixed herbs and serve

Tips for the Best Rice

To rinse or not to rinse: Instructions for Jasmine rice usually include rinsing rice before cooking. This is to rinse off the surface starch from the rice and help prevent clumping while cooking. Use a fine mesh strainer to rinse Jasmine rice under running water.

Fresh or Dried Herbs: Fresh herbs are preferred but certainly dried herbs will make an acceptable alternative.

How to Store

Store cooked Garlic Herb Jasmine Rice in an air-tight container for up to 5-6 days.
