Black Bean Burgers with Thousand Island Dressing

The absolute best Black Bean Burgers topped with a creamy and chunky Thousand Island Marinade and Dressing by Drew's Organics.

Ingredients
  • 2 14 oz cans of black beans
  • ½ green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 1 cup yellow onion grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
Burger & Toppings
  • 5 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup +2 tbsp Drew's Organics Thousand Island Marinade and Dressing
  • onion
  • tomato
  • cheese slices
  • avocado
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Drain, rinse, and lightly pat dry black beans. Spread out black beans on large baking sheet and roast for 15 minutes (optional) . While beans are in the oven grate the onions, finely chop the green bell pepper, and mince the garlic. Heat a medium saucepan, add olive oil and saute onion, green bell pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes. Then and garlic and continue to saute for another minute. Set aside.

  2. In a large bowl add black beans. Then add the onion, green bell pepper, garlic, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, breadcrumbs, salt/pepper, eggs. Mix together using a fork or masher, smash most of the black beans but keep some chunks for texture.
  3. Use a ½ cup measurement to form round patties with your hands and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and cook black beans in oven for about 20 minutes (Flipping burgers halfway through to cook 10 minutes each side).

  4. Remove from oven. Assemble the burger by placing bun, burger, and additional condiments together.
Recipe Notes

Storage & Freezing: Will last in fridge for about 5 days. To freeze place in plastic bag, separated by parchment paper or flash freeze.
