It doesn’t get much better than chocolate for breakfast.

To Sweeten or Not To Sweeten

Oatmeal tastes so much better with a little sweetness added. There are several options out there to add to this oatmeal. I wanted to focus on a natural sweetener like natural maple syrup but certainly you can use brown sugar (I recently made this recipe using light brown sugar).

Alternatives

To make this breakfast vegan use non daily milk like unsweetened almond milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, soy milk. Maple syrup, brown sugar, agave and great sweeteners to add.

How To Make The Best Chocolate Oatmeal with Strawberries

What I love about oatmeal is that it’s so easy to make and can easily keep you full.

Gather the ingredients:

One tip I always go by is to gather all my ingredients to have in one place before I even start cooking. This is crucial especially when making cooking videos (check out my IGTV videos here). The same can go for when cooking at home. Although its nearly impossible to mess up making a batch of oatmeal it’s much easier to get everything together first.

Place a medium sized sauce pan and add to medium heat. Next add the milk and oatmeal.

Stir, Stir, Stir:

Use a heat resistance tool to stir milk and oatmeal until combined. This mixture should be or start to boil.

Then add the chia seeds, cacao powder, pinch of salt, vanilla extract, and sweetener (light brown sugar). Stir again mixture until evenly combined.

Cook:

Continue to cook on stove for about 5 minutes or until liquid starts to evaporate. This oatmeal will thicken. Remove from heat.

Top it off:

Top with slices of strawberries and extra chia seeds.
